Dreams Come True – I Can’t Believe It!
My wife and I always believed that dreams come true and we had pictured, over the years, what we would like in our Dream Home to look like.
This mental vision of what we wanted was clear, precise and detailed. When it came true, we each said, “I can’t believe it. But it really happened. Dreams do come true.
How Our Dreams Came True
I was the Arizona Senate Majority Leader and had just announced that I would not be seeking a fourth term in the Senate. My wife immediately began looking for our dream home, now that we did not have to live in the district from which I had been elected.
One year later, we found a promising prospect. It was a bank repo and it was the last of four or five homes that we looked at. As we drove into the circular driveway, we immediately fell in love with the place. Everything was perfect. All the amenities we desired in the home were there. The only thing missing was a swimming pool. But everything else, in every detail, was there—even the wood floors.
We had pictured the home through the eye of faith. We believed that we would find and secure our dream home. We felt we deserved it and our dream came true. We made an offer on the house and bought it as quickly as we could. Oh, by the way, it had to be in our price range.
The interesting part of the story is that the listed price for the property was higher than we wanted to pay. Connie and I had previously decided on the price we would be offering the seller.
We met the realtor at the property. While touring the home, we commented to our realtor that we would be asking the seller to reduce the price to our predetermine maximum price. The realtor, quite surprised, said that the property was already priced at that very price. We assured the realtor that we had carefully looked at the listing price and that the house was listed at a much higher price.
Our realtor, was a very smart and seasoned realtor. She knew her stuff and she was always well-prepared. She pulled out her copy of the listing, which she had printed just prior to meeting with us.
The price of home in her listing showed exactly the price we were willing to pay. A quick history check showed that the bank had reduced the price from the higher price to our lower price that very morning.
The bank had been asking the higher price for this home for more than a year. Connie and I felt blessed to arrive at the house of our dreams on the very day that the price had been reduced to the maximum we were willing to pay.
It goes without saying that we immediately submitted an offer for the full asking price.
This house is a wonderful house. It is the home of our dreams. It is part of our American dream. As a matter of fact, it is in this home that we felt like we had finally achieved our American dream.
It’s also the reason for the title of my company, “Living The American Dream.” And because dream so come true, I wrote a book about it and called it “Living The American Dream“.
